Lo aprendido de diseñar +2000 pantallas UI para las marcas más influyentes del mundo

Primero voy a presentarme:
Soy venezolana, radicada en Londres. Creo en el acceso equitativo a la información y la tecnología para crear un mundo más justo e inclusivo, es por esto que me gustaría compartir mis conocimientos de todo lo aprendido de UI/UX con los hispano hablantes.
Como diseñadora UI/UX ayudé a mejorar la experiencia de usuario en Capgemini UK, una de las compañías más influyentes de IT en el mundo, donde tuve la oportunidad de trabajar en proyectos para empresas como: Heathrow Airport, Lloyd Register, Jaguar & Land Rover (JLR), Parcel force, Horizon (nuclear plant), BSH, Unilever y General Electric, por nombrar algunas de las más importantes.
Además, tuve la oportunidad de rediseñar la App de Poker Stars para el tour Europeo de Poker, fui co-líder de una de las 10 mejores aplicaciones en mi país, y ahora soy líder del equipo de experiencia de usuario en ELLE Store Francia.
Nota: He aprendido todo esto de excelentes diseñadores y muchos ensayos y errores. Si aprendiste algo de este artículo, compártelo con otro diseñador.
1. Pon prioridad a tus diseños
Establece prioridades. En primer lugar, esfuérzate en cumplir todos los requerimientos, luego puedes continuar con las animaciones e ilustraciones personalizadas.

2. A nadie le interesan las animaciones
Siento decir esto, pero a pesar de que soy fan de las animaciones, los productos más conocidos en el mundo tienen muy pocas y las usan de manera muy inteligente. En algunos casos pasan de ellas. Este es el caso de Facebook, Instagram, Medium o Slack.
Estos productos valen millones de dólares, no por sus animaciones sino porque resuelven problemas y son valiosos para los usuarios.
Por supuesto, hay momentos y lugares para las animaciones pero empieza poniendo tu tiempo y esfuerzo en entregar un trabajo con la mejor experiencia de usuario, luego dedícale todo el tiempo a diseñar una linda iconografía.
3. Sigue los patrones
Los patrones de diseño o guidelines se llaman de esta manera porque se encuentran en todas partes. Los usuarios están acostumbrados a hacer las cosas de cierta manera, no intentes cambiarlo. Generalmente los usuarios tienen una expectativa de la experiencia.
Si estás interesado en diseñar una App para Google Play, puedes seguir los patrones de diseño establecidos por Material Design.

Si deseas diseñar para Apple, existen patrones de diseño para macOS, iOS, watchOS y tvOS. Aquí puedes encontrarlos Human Interface Guidelines
NO pierdas tu tiempo reinventando UI que no necesitan ser reinventadas.
4. Crea Templates (Plantillas)
Las plantillas te ahorrarán muchísimo tiempo.
He estado en proyectos donde he diseñado al menos 25 pantallas en una semana, he creado una presentación para vender la idea a los involucrados, y hasta he hecho un prototipo interactivo en Invision, mientras viajaba entre 3 diferentes países. Todo esto no hubiese sido posible sin los templates preparados al inicio del proyecto.
5. Consistencia para ser más eficientes
Mientras más consistentes sean tus diseños, mas rápido podrás diseñar. Estarás reduciendo una gran cantidad de decisiones de diseño en el proceso.
Si diseñas un botón y lo conviertes en un símbolo en Sketch para utilizarlo en todos tus diseños, no solo crearás consistencia en tus pantallas sino estarás trabajando de manera más eficiente porque no tendrás que diseñar botones desde cero cada vez que necesites uno.
A medida que te vuelves más rápido, la consistencia seguirá naturalmente.
6. Resuelve problemas y entrega valor al usuario
Existen una gran cantidad de productos muy simples, con un diseño muy básico, pero entregan valor al usuario y eso es lo que cuenta.
No estoy afirmando que los diseños simples son mis favoritos, lo que estoy diciendo es que se puede entregar valor al usuario con un diseño simple. He estado en proyectos en donde se ha sacrificado un buen diseño por una buena experiencia de usuario.
7. Los buenos diseños fallarán con una mala presentación
Las imágenes por sí solas no llevarán muy lejos a un proyecto. Las imágenes son un porcentaje muy bajo de todo el proceso de presentación.
Lo demás, es contar la historia (storytelling). Si no convences a la audiencia, hablas en pro del usuario y demuestras el valor del producto, probablemente fracasarás.

Hi! I’m highly recommend to go with open source CMS like WordPress, Joomla or Drupal. They are user friendly an easy to set up. Let me know if you need any help.
